Setting Up Global Commodities

Introduction

Overview

Setting up global commodities is how you add goods to SCOPE that can be distributed during interventions. Global commodities are shared by all Country Offices. You can set what type of commodity it is, what the standard unit for the commodity is, and a description to provide more information to users about the commodity.

Who is responsible for setting up global commodities?

Programme and SSD are responsible for setting up global commodities. Check with your Country Office to confirm who in Programme is responsible in your country.

Why is setting up global commodities important?

You can only distribute commodities that are registered on SCOPE.

POS commodities are based on global commodities, so you must set up any required global commodities before you can add POS commodities at the Country Office level.

What do I need to do before setting up global commodities?

Identify what commodities you need for your interventions. Then, check the existing commodity list to see which of those commodities already exist on the system. You only need to add the commodities that are missing.
